Plan your visit to LDAF's recreation area in Alexander State Forest
Enjoy 2,600 acres of facilities, forest, and lake for camping, swimming, fishing, boating, and outdoor recreation managed by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
Getting there
LDAF's Indian Creek Recreation Area is located within the Alexander State Forest between I-49 and US Hwy 165 in central Rapides Parish. You can access the area 24 hours a day. Handicap parking is available.

Day pass: $7 per vehicle. (cash or debit/credit card) After posted hours, gate entry requires a credit/debit card or a passcode provided by the office.
Veterans can receive 50% off their day pass. Disabled veterans can get free entry. You must provide proper picture identification. To get a special veteran entrance permit, contact the Louisiana Department of Veterans’ Affairs office in the parish where you reside.

If you’re planning to stay a few nights, groceries are available within a couple of miles.
Rules and regulations
Pets are allowed but must be on a leash.
Campers can use golf carts during their stay, but must register them with the main office.
Quiet hours are 10pm - 7am.
No metal detectors.
No fireworks.
No littering, including cigarette butts; dispose of litter in trash bins. Dumpsters are centrally located on Azalea Trail.
Dispose of sewerage and water from an RV or camper at one of the 2 dump stations. Don’t dispose of other waste in the dump station.
Be aware you’re in a forest and use caution. You might run across poisonous snakes, alligators, raccoons, black bears, snapping turtles, and other animals that could potentially harm you if they feel threatened.
Don’t bring or use chainsaws, and don’t burn pallets. You can easily find firewood throughout the site.
On campsites, registered visitors are responsible for all visitors at their site.

You can stay up to 14 consecutive days. (Sorry, no long-term stays.)

Primitive campsite option
The primitive campsite for tent camping is first-come, first-served. Towed campers can use this area as well. There is no electricity or water, except for water stations at the latrines. You can use the showers at either bathhouse. Several fire rings are located throughout this area.
Rally camping (group camping) is also available for the exclusive use of an area (primitive campsite only).

Large pavilion
The pavilion overlooks the lake and has a spacious grassy area for activities. It includes:

Fee: $100 per day plus a $50 refundable cleaning deposit (refunded if the area is picked up after use). Pavilion rentals do not include day-use fees (all cars must pay the day-use fee).
Small pavilion
Tucked away in an area that offers both privacy and some of the most beautiful lake views. The covered pavilion area shelters a large picnic table and is 12′ x 20′. The area has:

2 fire rings
There are no restroom facilities, but the nearby bathhouse is within walking distance and is wheelchair accessible.
Fee: $30 per day plus a $15 refundable cleaning deposit (refunded if the area is picked up after use).
