Boll Weevil Eradication Commission
Governs the practices and ensures producer compliance with existing law and regulation through investigations and adjudicatory hearings to facilitate eradication and maintain eradicated status.
The Boll Weevil Eradication Commission was created in 1992 by Act 58 of the Louisiana Legislature to secure the cooperation of cotton producers and other state and federal governments to carry out a program of boll weevil suppression and eradication.

Two cotton producers appointed by the commissioner from a list of six persons nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.
Two cotton producers appointed from a list of six persons nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.
One cotton producer to be appointed by the commissioner from a list of nominees submitted by the chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development and a list of nominees submitted by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development.
The Louisiana State University Vice President for Agriculture, or his designee, serves as an ex officio member in an advisory capacity.
A member of the Louisiana Agricultural Consultants Association selected by the executive board of the association, serves as an ex officio member in an advisory capacity.
The Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry, or his designee, serves as an ex officio member with all of the same rights and responsibilities of an appointed member.
